don k asked:
I ‘ve heard that u can’t download some kinds of files on the Mac. I want to get a Macbook but if I can’t download music and movies and stuff than ill just stick to PC. So, is it true that the Macbook can’t donload .exe files? Should I get the Macbook? I’ve never had a Mac before always a PC.

you can download stuff, but remember, windows is compatible with many more programs and files than mac is.
there are lots of things a mac cannot do, music or movies is not one of them.
mac computers are the best but u may find things not downloading because ur mac cant translate it from windows to mac or if u have a old mac then u might want to upgrade it
Macs don’t use the same file extensions as PCs for programs, but music files, movie files, and documents like word documents and excel spreadsheets will work on a Mac as long as you have the right software.
As for .exe files, those are program files for a PC, so unless you setup your Mac to dual boot Windows, or run Windows in an emulator (Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion), you won’t be able to use them.
I’m a PC guy, but work with MACs all the time.
Almost everything you can download on a PC, has a MAC version. There will be differences, but if you want to go MAC, don’t worry that you will be limited. Most applications will offer a MAC version of similar products.
Downloading files is one thing, using the file is another. Stick with pc and the ‘will its’ will melt away.
i have a macbook and i love it!. No it cant download .exe but almost all the programs you have on your PC, there are mac substitutes. If you are getting a new mac it comes with OS X Leopard which is amazing. You can install Windows Xp or Vista(32 bit) and you’ll have a PC and a Mac in one. Xp only costs about $100 on amazon.com
mac use .dmg’s and pc’s use .exe
Get a mac, you will not be disappointed. I too was really worried about being able to do the things I had become accustomed to using my old PC. Let me tell you, everything has a mac version from browsers to p2p. You can play every kind of media format too. You just have to get a nack for the the new system first. Once your comfortable with it you can do nearly ever thing you did with a PC, except play video games. Hope it helps.
Go to the apple store and tell them what you like to do, and see what will work.
if you buy a mac, you can download the program “bootcamp” from apple’s website, then install Windows OS and have that running on your mac. This will allow you to download ANY file or application that you previously would not have been able to open through Mac OS X. You will then essentially have a Windows operating PC on your mac. Just another reason to buy apple.
Another option for downloading .exe files is to simply do a google search or search on apple’s website for a converter which will convert .exe formatted files into whatever format you like. This is the route I chose to take.
the new macs with leopar are amazing. YOU’ll really love it. And you can have the best of both worlds: MAC AND WINDOWS!!!
